A Message From David Sutcliffe, Watching LP, and Getting Some Much Needed Rest

This weekend was one of those weekends that I always hope to have. We spend a lot of weekends cleaning. Lots of weekends! And it breaks my heart. I hate working all week, and then spending all my free time on the weekends working some more.

This weekend I did some amazing things, and honestly it was just what I needed.

It Started with a Message from David Sutcliffe

I talk about Gilmore Girls a lot, on this blog. Heck, I talk Gilmore Girls a lot IRL. And this post is no exception. My husband texted me this message:

I didn’t watch it at first because I thought it was another one of David Sutcliffe’s rambling messages about his cult. And Eric said, “it’s not about the cult, I promise.” I said OK, I’d watch it later.

A few minutes later, Eric was back and told me he really wanted to see my reaction when I watched the video. So I sat and watched. And this is what it was:

Can you even?! There are a few things I should explain here.

  1. I did think that Christopher got a crappy deal in the revival. And believe me it is a very unpopular opinion. Even in my own household. But I don’t think Christopher was a bad guy, he just wasn’t what Lorelai needed. Also, contextually I don’t think he would have gone back to work at his father’s company. But I won’t subject you to my long-winded theory.
  2. Also, in the show, Christopher says that Lorelai is “it for him” and my husband has been saying that to me for years. Now, I know that he got it from the show, because we talked about it at length. But he now denies that, and says that he’s been saying it forever. Either way, it’s really cool that Eric says that to me all the time, and that Christopher said it in the show. And here I have him saying it to me. So meta!

Then There was LP

If you’ve never heard LP, do yourself a favor and listen to her. Right now. I’ll wait.

Good God, right?! I don’t know where I first heard her, but I know I Shazamed this song, and have been obsessed ever since. Her music was the only thing I listened to when I wrote my novel draft back during NaNaWriMo. It inspired me, and moved me to no end.

Over the weekend I got to see LP live, and I was about three rows from the stage. It was amazing. AMAZING! I can’t even describe it. I feel breathless just typing about it.

If you are a fan of Orange is the New Black, you may remember this song at the end of season 4.

This BuzzFeed article is 100% spot on with the LP obsession process. It’s impossible not to fall in love with her!

And Then I Relaxed

Sunday was spent in my big red chair, watching a raging fire.

I finally learned how to use my fireplace! I’ve never had a wood burning stove, and the first time I tried to make a fire in it, I smoked out my living room. Now, I know the formula, and the fireplace is my little magic corner of the house.

Let’s Do This Again

OK, so I know I won’t be getting messages from David Sutcliffe every weekend, and although I’d pay good money to see LP every weekend, she sells out so quickly, and the rest of her tour dates are too far from CT.

But taking time to enjoy the weekend, and the time away from work, is something I am going to try to do more. I really needed it this weekend. And I’m going to try to remember how good it felt. So I can do it again and again.

How was your weekend? Do you take the time to relax on the weekend, or are you working through it like me?

OMG, I have to laugh because while I was watching the Cameo, all I could think of was “is David Sutcliffe sitting in a Ralph’s Supermarket parking lot talking to you?” No judgment dude, you gotta get paid, I get it.

That sounded like an epic Valentines. Hope you are feeling better!

It’s pretty funny because on the website, you can see the other videos he’s done, and it looks like he did a few of them while he was sitting there. And he yells in all of them, which I find delightful.
