TBB Asks: Giving Thanks Edition

While I was  eagerly awaiting the Fall Swap Box reveal over at Happy Pretty Sweet, I saw this link-up and just had to get in on the fun. Just a little more Fall love to go around. Also, I am feeling that Fall spirit this year, ya know?

Here are the questions from TBB Asks: Giving Thanks Edition:

TBB Asks: Giving Thanks Edition | Ani KayHave you ever kept a Gratitude Journal? Yes or No?
Yes! I am currently doing so in my Happy Planner!

Hosting Thanksgiving at your house? Yes or No?
Yes! I have cooked Thanksgiving dinner every year for the last six years, and it’s one of the happiest days of my year. <– Phew, three ‘years’ in that sentence!

Favorite Food from The Thanksgiving Meal?
OMG how to choose! I’d have to say the cranberry sauce, because I make it from scratch, and the potatoes cause potatoes are the food of the gods.

What one thing in Nature are you most grateful for?
I am grateful for so many things in nature, but today and this month, I am so very grateful for the changing leaves.

Pumpkin Pie: Yes or No?
Yes, yes, a million times yes. Also pumpkin pancakes and pumpkin bread!

Traditional Cookbook: Yes or No?
Yes, and no. A lot of the recipes I use on Thanksgiving are from the interwebs. I lean on the greats like Ina Garten for the big holidays.

Oven Baked or Deep-Fried Turkey?
So, we do Tofurkey at our house, and it is always oven baked. I wonder if I could deep fry it!

Thanksgiving Leftovers: Yes or No?
Yes! If all I could eat for the rest of the year was Thanksgiving leftovers I would be a happy woman. Also, I’d be about 400 pounds.

What is one household product you’re most grateful for?
My Kitchen-aid. I have loved it since the first time I used it. And it really shines during the holidays. Though not literally, it’s almost always covered in flour during the holidays.

Are you most grateful for home cooked meals or restaurant meals?
Home cooked all the way. I would eat every meal at home if I had the time, or the discipline to grocery shop when I need to!

What are you grateful for this year? Are you ready for Thanksgiving? I’m already daydreaming about it.

Is it wrong that I said Tofurkey in my Mrs. Kim voice?
Also, I love my Kitchen Aid mixer so much.
My mom got it for us our first Christmas in this house (13 years ago!) and it’s still running strong.

LOL, that is the only way to read it. And now that’s all I can hear in my head! I watch that episode every Thanksgiving, btw. And damn! I’m glad my kitchen aid has a nice long life ahead of it, I’ve had it for just about seven years.

My mother in law got me a kitchenaid stand mixer and at first I thought it was OK but I didn’t really think I did a lot of baking but… wow! does that thing come in handy and I’d say we have it going at least once a week for something.

Oh yes, vegetarian for 25 years now! Holy moly! Potatoes are so good. Any way you have them, they’re amazing.

Tofurkey – I’ve never heard of that one! I love my kitchenaid too. Is that view of the changing leaves your yard? How beautiful!! Have a wonderful week!

Tofurkey is amazing! Basically it’s a non-meat turkey. I’ve been making them for a few years now and my family loves it! They are definitely the highlight of our Thanksgiving, and honestly saying Tofurkey is just fun, haha. The intro pic is not, but the pic in the post is my yard. OMG the foliage is amazing this year. I haven’t had my own yard since I was 12 and I got this one just before the leaves started changing. It’s like a gift every single day!

I have a gratitude journal. 🙂 It’s always nice to revisit old entries when I’m feeling kind of crappy.
I’m all about the sides on Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving is an underrated holiday, the origin suck, totally. But, I love the Thanksgiving we have at our house, the feeling the togetherness, it makes me happy.
