Fitness Friday #5 – This is About the Time That I Would Bolt

You know me, I’ll never give up the opportunity for a good Gilmore Girls reference. In the Gilmore Girls episode called “Girls in Bikinis, Boys Doin’ The Twist“, which is honestly one of the worst, if not the worst episode of my beloved show, Jason talks about how he always gets to the same point in every relationship where he bolts.

I have this same problem with my commitments. And it’s normally just around this time. I’ve been blogging like crazy, creating YouTube videos, working on my social media growth, and trying desperately to lose weight. All while working my regular 9-5, and parenting two kids.

And you know what? I’m tired. And I hear that voice in my head that says “just forget it, just give up, it’s too much work and what’s the point anyway?” I hear it so clearly. And so loudly. And it’s so very convincing.

I can just sit and knit, or watch TV, or heck, I can just go to bed at eight and not worry about any of this trying to start my own business nonsense. And who needs to be their ideal weight? During the Renaissance I’d be considered a waif! They’d be concerned for my health!

But then I take a step back, and I remember what I’m doing this all for. And I channel my inner Stuart Smalley:

What?! 11.4 pounds down?! Yes!! I’m not going to lie, this is pretty darn motivating.

You can tell I’m starting to slip because not only did I miss four blue dot days, I also ended the week with negative points! It’s a first since I started. But this is a journey, I’m going to fail and I’m going to succeed. No matter what I do, I am going to reach my goal!

Exercise

Monday: 5, 066 steps
Tuesday: 11,022 steps; 30 minutes running in the hotel gym
Wednesday: 10,467 steps; 30 minutes elliptical in the hotel gym
Thursday: 6,158 steps
Friday: 8,274 steps
Saturday: 6, 353 steps
Sunday: 11,085; 43 minutes running outside <–this was a bad idea because the upper respiratory illness had just started and I somehow thought running would help as opposed to completely not help.

Exercise was my saving grace this week, and it got me through a lot of those points that I went over. Oh, and just so you know, that negative up there is after all of the Fit Points I earned from all of this exercise.

Menu

So, normally I would write out everything I ate during the week, but I am currently battling the flu, and I just can’t bring myself to write it all out today! I’ll be back to it next week. I do however, have photos.

Summary

I am not going to beat myself up for going off track on eating because I rocked it with exercise. But I’m also not going to beat myself because who needs that?! This is not going to be perfect. Not for one single second. And that’s ok. Because progress feels so freakin good that I’m not letting guilt, or disappointment, steal a single ounce of it.

Oh friend, feel better soon! You really need to be a life coach. Maybe I can be your first client.

Also, I hate almost ALL of the episodes where Jason is concerned. HATED HIM.

Thanks so much! And I would love to be a life coach. I kind of feel like I’m learning how to be my own coach this year. And some days are definitely harder than others! Oh and you are so not alone, so many people hate Jason. I actually love him now, though I hated him the first time around.
