Fitness Friday #10 – Working Out and Meeting Post Malone

Let’s just jump right in, shall we?

I have some strict steps, leading up to my birthday goal of getting to my ideal weight. I’m starting each Fitness Friday until then with a spot check of where I’m at with these goals.

Get back to strict Weight Watchers, track everything!

I was thinking that it would be OK to take the weekends off from tracking, if I’m really strict and working hard during the week. But after weighing myself this morning, I’m thinking that is not the case.

This is what I made for Mother’s Day, and there was no way I was tracking it!

Also, I went over my points every day for the remainder of the week. Which led to the frustration of weighing in at a pound heavier this morning. Very frustrating.

Intermittent fasting of no less than 14 hours (Ideally 8:00pm to 10:00am)

I fasted every day this week, including Mother’s Day, and every one of my traveling days. Which again, makes a one pound increase, very very frustrating. There are probably a few other factors at play here, but it’s still very frustrating. Did I mention it was frustrating? lol

If you are interested in Intermittent Fasting, I use an app called Zero.

Follow the Couch to 5k Schedule

I did Couch to 5k one day this week, and it was the third day in the series, which means I haven’t made much progress. But, this time around it was a lot easier than the first time, so I know my fitness level is increasing, which is a good thing.

I’m documenting my progress by taking a video during cool down. This is day three and day two.

Day two was…tough.

OK, I may have been a tad dramatic here…

Do Slim in 6 at least twice a week

Yes! I did this on Monday and then again on Thursday. I am honestly thinking this is one of the reasons that I gained weight this week. This program builds muscle, and whenever I start it I gain before I lose. I’m hoping, with my fingers and toes crossed that that is the reason I gained.

This is Slim in 6, in case you’re curious. I use it through Beach Body on demand, but that’s a quarterly subscription. The discs below is a one shot deal. I bought this original series about ten years ago, and have since lost all of the dvds, hence the BB subscription.

Close all rings, every day

I did this. I mentioned last Fitness Friday that me and my brother were starting a competition, and I beat him! Which is a bit unfair considering I’ve had the Apple Watch for months and he just got his. But either way, it motivated me to get these rings closed!

Drink 64 ounces of water a day

I did a little better with this, since I drink more water when I travel, but I still didn’t make it every day. I don’t know what to do. Do you have any tips for drinking more water?!

Stay connected by posting weight loss/health/fitness related content at least twice a day

I haven’t really done much of this, and I think it’s a big part of why I haven’t seen the progress that I’m looking for. I did post one though:

I tend to meet celebrities when I travel, because I travel a lot. And most of the time I’ll take a picture and then spend all of my time criticizing how I look in the picture as opposed to enjoying the moment that was captured in it.

The picture above was the first one in as long as I can remember where I actually liked the way I looked. Let me say that again, I actually liked the way I looked! This is huge for me. It almost makes up for the pound I gained. Almost.

I can’t say it enough, but this is a journey. As much as I’d like to get there as soon as possible, and without any misteps or detours, it’s just not going to happen. But I will get there, and that’s all that matters!

How are you with photos of yourself? Do you love them, hate them, or are just a regular functioning adult who sees them for what they are and acutally enjoys them. No judgement šŸ˜‰

OH I absolutely judge photos of myself.. and rarely like any of them. I do have a few that I’ve liked through the years but more often than not I pick apart everything from the way my hair looks to my weight to my facial expression. I’m trying to get better about it but I have been like that my whole life and it’s a hard habit to break.

I agree, it really is hard. And I stopped taking pictures for a long time. I’m just now starting to actually take selfies, where I don’t feel like I need to make a funny face or something to justify not looking great in them. It’s horrible what we do to ourselves. I want to look at pictures and enjoy the moment, not think about what I look like. I want to remember what I was feeling, and why I took the picture!
We will get there, YOU will get there! You’re rocking your weight loss journey, and I think that will go hand in hand with the picture appreciation!

I hate pictures of me usually and I always look huge. I did take some good ones during my birthday week though and at that point, had been on low carb and exercising for a solid three weeks.

This journey IS hard; I have hurt my elbow to the point of not exercising at all. I have tried three diets in three months. It is a lot. I am going on vacation next week and I think I need a week to just CHILL.

I am definitely going back to Intermittent Fasting and will try that app too! I did love how I felt when I was on it.

You look so healthy and GOOD in that picture.
Post Malone on the other hand……..;)

Thank you Kari!! And yeah, I don’t get the whole Post Malone look. I feel like there are two types of people in this world, folks who get tattoos on their faces, and folks who don’t. But who knows, maybe it’s just me getting older.

I love intermittent fasting, I think it really has made a huge difference. I still do it every day, even when I don’t count points, or work out. It’s the one line that keeps me together when I don’t feel like doing the whole diet and exercise thing. I’m so sorry about your elbow! That’s awful šŸ™

Thank you! It was super yummy. And I literally dream about those scones, almost a month later!

Ok first off – if I could do backbends on a beach wearing a bikini as your teaser picture shows – it could go two ways. One – it goes like shown, and someone takes a picture of the sun going down under the arch of my back. Two, some piece of my two-piece would do something terrible. Just saying. On a different note, I simply adore that you keep going even when it’s frustrating, even when you gain a pound. Thanks for being accountable. And keep going. That is all. Except this: I saw your IG post with Post Malone – sorry he wasn’t into it, but I like the way you look too.

LOL! I’m pretty sure my back does not bend that way any more! And thank you!!! It’s been life changing to see myself in a different way. It makes me want to go back in time, and let myself know that it can be this way. Oh well, we live and we learn. Keeping myself accountable has been the only key to my success. Everything else, the eating different, and working out, is straight forward. It’s the writing here, and the counting points, that has kept me on the path!

I hear you on the frustration, but I still think that some days are not meant to be tracked… I’m glad you could enjoy that Mother’s Day spread, as it should be! It will all balance out because you’re aware of it, and kudos for your honesty, too.

Thanks, Hannah! Honestly, I think the ‘free’ days are the only things that have kept me on track. If I didn’t know that I could stray, and still stay on track, I would have given up months ago. Sometimes you need to just eat all of the things. Then get back on the straight and narrow the next day šŸ™‚
